Recitals Announce 'Orbit I' Album Release Shows + Share Single / Video 'Arrow'

Te Whanganui-a-Tara seven piece Recitals are getting all their ducks lined up for the August launch of their Flying Nun Records debut album Orbit I, announcing today release events in their hometown and Tāmaki Makaurau, plus snazzy new single / video combo ‘Arrow’. Sounding as kaleidoscopic as its large-scale cast of creators, the song's visuals were filmed with permission on location at Alice Krebbs Lodge and Pyramid Club, starring imaginatively garbed members of Recitals playfully interacting with their environment — preceded by a statement paying "respect to Te Āti Awa as the enduring custodians of the whenua in which this video was filmed."

Drawing praise from such significant local figures Princess Chelsea (who described them as "a glittering throwback to a bygone era"), experience directors East Abernethy and Matilda Boese-Wong's clip for Recitals' new single below, and don't miss the team of Sam Curtiss, Olivia Wilding, Carla Camilleri, Josh Finegan, Christian Dimick, Tharushi Bowatte and Xanthe Rook squeezing onto a stage near you this winter...

“Arrow is the first song we ever played to people and the first song we ever wrote. It feels like a grand entrance. Perhaps once upon a time, it had a specific meaning, but over time the meaning has evolved for each member and the feelings it evokes have transformed too.”

“There’s a mythology behind ‘Arrow’ - and it’s kind of cool that this mythology is elusive even to us. Kind of like how we can read ancient runes or interpret old stories but ultimately we don’t have access to the original intention or truth. We portray an intensity in trying to tell a story we don’t understand, through the music’s mystique.”
