Georgia Lines Shares 'Human' EP + Video For 'Faith'

Georgia Lines Shares 'Human' EP + Video For 'Faith'

Samantha Cheong / Friday 29th July, 2022 12:19PM

Top 20 finalist for the 2022 APRA Silver Scroll award and host of interview web series INTROS, Georgia Lines today shares lead single 'Faith' alongside her new five-track EP Human. Written by the Tauranga songwriter and Joseph Farris, the riff-heavy song mixes its upbeat funk-pop with vulnerable lyrics to express the double-edged sword that is trying to keep one's hope in the face of uncertainty. The Prince-inspired track is a sonically bold and catchy prayer for help, exploring the "tension often felt in relationships, where stubbornness can often get in the way of necessary change".

Human proves a profound growth in Georgia Lines' lyrical and sonic expression through her soulful songwriting in the lilting 'Save Me', the infectious late-night hooks in 'Nothing But Love' and sultry romp 'Moon Soda' including the EP's sole feature Alex James of Alae. To celebrate the EP's release, Lines will be playing two shows with her full band in her hometown and Auckland from next week. Both shows will feature special guest YAHYAH, plus Benjamin Mack at the Tāmaki event. You can experience the seven stages of grief (and of being human) with Georgia Lines below — plus billowing, dynamically choreographed visuals for 'Faith', directed by Mikee Carpinter and made with support from NZ On Air...

“The EP reflects my journey of vulnerability, of learning I am human...It examines love and loss, the deep pain and joy we can sometimes hold in the same breath, and my journey as an artist to explore all of those feelings and attempt to package some of my findings and honest feelings into these songs."— Georgia Lines
