Chris Cudby / Friday 16th September, 2022 8:30AM

It's time to sound the trumpets, as the mega-stacked lineup has been revealed this morning for the The Others Way Festival 2022, bringing the party back to Tāmaki Makaurau's Karangahape Road after three long years on 22nd October. Local heavy hitters on the thirty strong bill include kiwi rock icons The Dance Exponents (celebrating the 40th anniversary of their debut album Prayers Be Answered), 2022 Taite Music Prize winner Anthonie Tonnon, a rare performance by noise-punks The Coolies (described by Thurston Moore as "the best band in the world"), Aotearoa hip hop trailblazer Ché Fu and the Kratez, '80s ska-punk mavericks The Newmatics, Theia's reo Māori project TE KAAHU, Port Chalmers folk figurehead Nadia Reid with full band and many more. Notably, Hans Pucket will be hosting their Midnight Karaoke Challenge, "where you too can live your popstar dream, fronting the band with a song of your choice." Better start practicing your favourite Hall & Oates cover — sign-ups will be opening soon (limited spaces available).

International artists arriving next month for the multi-venue extravaganza include LA beat maker Mndsgn & The Rare Pleasures (Stones Throw), the return of Australian songwriter Laura Jean, and New York-based guitar virtuoso Steve Gunn. There's plenty more details to be revealed in the weeks to come, explore the full lineup below and seriously grab festival tickets before it's too late...

“We are over the moon about our artist line-up featuring local gems, legends, luminaries and next-big-things! We think you'll be pretty dang happy! After numerous postponements and cancellations these last few years, we just can’t wait for the festival’s return this October. It’s going to be an unmissable show across Karangahape Rd.” — Festival Director Matthew Davis.
