DADDY LONG LEGS Announce Debut New Zealand Shows

Globally beloved NYC rockin' blues outfit DADDY LONG LEGS have their sights set on Aotearoa, announcing today their first ever local shows this December — headline dates in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Leigh and a surfside rager at Piha RSA. Hailed as "a firecracker live act" by no less than Jon Spencer (Blues Explosion, Pussy Galore) and acclaimed as "My favorite rompin’ stompin’ New York band of the moment" by the legendary Lenny Kaye, the group's high pedigree back catalogue includes 2019's Lowdown Ways (Yep Rock Records), 2014's Blood From A Stone and 2012's Evil Eye On You (both via Norton Records).

Daddy Long Legs - New York City’s most explosive Rhythm & Blues street gang aren’t back, they never left. In dark times they continue to shine their light everywhere they go leaving a piece of themselves on stage every night because it’s in them and it’s got to come out. Now the boys unveil their new killer 4 piece format.

When asked by Village Voice "What is Daddy Long Legs?" frontman Brian Hurd answered , "Rock and roll salvation through the spirit of roots and blues". While influenced by the likes of Son House, Captain Beefheart, Howling Wolf, MC5, The Flamin' Groovies, & Dr Feelgood, their sound personifies garage rock and punk with a contemporary raw twist performed in their own brand of supercharged R&B. Their latest album Lowdown Ways sees the boys widen their sonic horizons with field hollers, gospel, Cajun & Mississippi Hill Music, and more.

Since forming in 2010, Daddy Long Legs have toured with such kindred spirits as The Damned, The Sonics, & The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and been joined on stage by heroes including Wilko Johnson (Dr Feelgood), Roy Loney & Cyril Jordan of the Flamin' Groovies, and Lenny Kaye of the Patti Smith Group.
