Premiere: Womb Share Single / Video 'The Dove'
Touring Aotearoa in November and performing at Flying Nun's Beautiful Things end of year wrap party, Te Whanganui-a-Tara sonic visionaries Womb have unveiled transcendent new single and video 'The Dove' that we're simply stoked to premiere here. Dedicated to Womb drummer and visual artist Georgette Brown's late father Justin Brown, and made with the support of NZ On Air, the group's self-directed clip is a moving meditation on the theme of grief, filmed along the shimmering shoreline of Whitireia Park and concluding with a beautiful speckly shower of snowflakes.
The sibling trio of Brown, Cello Forrester (also of Crush) and Haz Forrester launch their forthcoming new album Dreaming of the Future Again via Flying Nun on 11th November (vinyl preorders available HERE) —read their words on 'The Dove' and hit play below...
“The Dove is a song for grief. We think of the dove, or any bird really, as a messenger between this world and another, being a winged creature that can fly between the earth and sky. Something about this song feels urgent: it was written and recorded in the week of Georgette’s father’s passing and: it came out fully formed. At the same time, The Dove is about trying to find vibrancy; feeling the wind, and feeling the way in which the wind is always something living.”
