MEDaL Unveil New Album 'SEQUELA'
The musical mind-meld of Lyttelton-based luminaries David Mulcahy (Superette, JPSE), John Billows (The Renderers, Dark Matter) and drummer Mark Whyte (Into The Void), MEDaL have reemerged with their aptly titled second album SEQUELA. There's certainly elements of all members' earlier projects bubbling through their fuzzed-out and heavy grooving new nine track creation, venturing into hypnotic zones of shadowy motorik / psych on 'Head Pig', 'Night Falls' and the pounding '606', while Mulcahy's gift for incisive hooks shine on opener 'Divide', 'Carnage', and uplifting shoegazy electronic anthem 'Beyond'. Laid down during 2022 in the trio's London St rehearsal space, open your ears to the sonic wonders to be found within SEQUELA and hit play on Mulcahy's retrofuturistic visuals for 'UFO Radio', part of a series of self-directed videos viewable HERE...
"Sequela, noun. "A result or condition that follows from a disease or illness."
SEQUELA follows our first album, REPLICA – but who can't see our world now without considering what follows physical and information disease? Though we will always see beauty and have fun.
Expect bouncy post-punk tunes, deep Moog synths and Krautrock, along with big heaviness.
Seeing the world from a viewpoint that resists."
'Sequela' is out today via Replicate Records.
