Automatic Announce Debut New Zealand Shows

Automatic Announce Debut New Zealand Shows

Chris Cudby / Thursday 17th November, 2022 8:00AM

Forging fresh sonic pathways in synth-soaked post-punk / new wave, US trio Automatic have officially announced their debut Aotearoa shows, bringing the party to Tāmaki Makaurau's Whammy Bar and performing at Hawke's Bay's Nest Fest in January 2023. Emerging from LA's DIY community in 2017, the trio of Izzy Glaudini, Halle Saxon and Lola Dompé have two albums out so far through high pedigree Californian imprint Stones Throw, 2019's Signal — which was followed by remix EP featuring Peanut Butter Wolf, Sudan Archives, Peaking Lights, John Dwyer (Osees) and Kevin Haskins (Bauhaus) — and the pulsing kosmische textures of this year's Excess. Heading our way following recent tours with Tame Impala and Parquet Courts, and presently sparking up student radio airwaves with the chrome-plated android grooves of 'Automaton', Automatic's forthcoming visit to New Zealand is a straight up unmissable proposition — get amongst at the following dates...

UPDATE: Automatic have announced LA-based Puerto Rican artist Pachyman as support for their Auckland show, listen to 2022's student radio hit 'All Night Long - (Feat. Winter)' below...

Press release:

Spinning Top Music and Drunken Piano are over the moon to announce Automatic’s first ever Australian / New Zealand shows this coming January.

The band will be performing songs from their most recent album, critically acclaimed Excess, melding the blissful bounce of Tom Tom Club with the techno-futurism of Kraftwerk, all delivered through the listlessness of young adulthood.

Fresh from appearances at legendary Desert Daze festival, Primavera Festival and tours with the likes of Tame Impala and Parquet Courts you do not want to miss these intimate debut appearances.
