The Powertool Records team have rallied an absolute army of talents from Aotearoa's musical underground for Powerwest Fest 2023, an all ages, day / night ten hour festival taking over New Lynn Community Centre on 28th January, during Auckland Anniversary Weekend. Starring more than two dozen bands performing across three stages, the festival is also a release party celebrating the launch of PT200: Powertool Retrospective, a two disc collection spanning the imprint's last 100 releases, plus a freshly reissued edition of the PT100 Powertool Retrospective (spanning the first 100 releases). The incredibly bargain-priced festival pass allows attendees to experience a never-to-be-repeated cavalcade of smokin' hot rising talents and local legends, plus there'll be a record fair running on the day — scope out the full lineup details...

Press release:

Tucked away in West Auckland, in an unassuming industrial section of New Lynn, is a cluster of hidden treasures: the venue UFO, the record store Alien, and the Powertool label.

Driven since 2001 by founder Andrew Maitai’s unflagging passion for independent music, Powertool Records has become one of New Zealand’s most prolific labels. Powertool has released over 200 albums, and organised thousands of shows and tours (yes, really).

Powertool Records is celebrating its 200th release with Powerfest, a day/night 10-hour music festival at the New Lynn Community Centre, running from 2pm ‘til 12pm on Saturday January 23rd. Open to all ages, across three stages, with absolute legends playing alongside some of Tāmaki Makaurau’s most exciting up-and-comers.
