Listen To Adam McGrath's Debut Solo Album 'Dear Companions'

Frontman of folk / country figureheads The Eastern, Ōtautahi songwriter Adam McGrath unveiled his first solo album after many years of active duty in late December during the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle. Spotlighted in our summer releases roundup just over a week back, if you haven't yet wrapped your ears around Dear Companions now's an ideal time to do so, especially as McGrath's fabled group (whose ranks have included Marlon Williams and Aldous Harding) are playing a Waiheke Island headline event this coming Saturday, and he's sure to sprinkle a few of these tunes into The Eastern's jam-packed songbook. Released in support of Rough Peel founder Paul Huggins' ongoing treatment for cancer (you can donate directly HERE), McGrath unpacked his thoughts and feelings around the significant occasion of his first solo long player's launch over on The Eastern's Facebook page HERE — excerpted briefly below...

"It’s called Dear Companions, because of everything I’ve learnt or am learning about the people in the songs and what they help me learn about myself and about the world big and small (especially small). But that kind of conception is just how records start, where they end up is up to whoever gets a copy in their life."
