The Pet Rocks 25th Anniversary Shows Announced

The Pet Rocks 25th Anniversary Shows Announced

Chris Cudby / Monday 6th March, 2023 2:10PM

Now based in Naarm, The Pet Rocks were right amongst Tāmaki Makaurau's indie rock scene in the late nineties, ruling student radio airwaves with an outpouring of jangle-fuzz gems, handily gathered together on their 1998 album PR Nightmare. Flash forward 25 years into the future, PR Nightmare is being re-released by 1:12 Records and The Pet Rocks singer / guitarist Nick Kreisler is gathering together members Steven Shaw (bass), Kim Martinengo (drums) and Dominic Blaazer (electric piano, synthesizer) for a gala celebration of the record's quarter century anniversary, playing with local legends of that earlier era and today, Hallelujah Picassos and Andrew Tolley’s "motorik music machine" Warm Leather, plus Dirtbag DJs. We won't be tuning into Max TV for the scoop on what's happening at @Luna following an afternoon of rifling through compact discs at Crawlspace Records — we'll be heading along to Whammy Bar on 31st March and / or Raglan's The Yot Club on 8th April for The Pet Rocks' first local shows in 23 years! Here's the gig details...

“Guitarist Simon Sampson is the only member we couldn’t pull in. He lives in London these days, so unfortunately, he can’t join us. We have recruited Aaron Wood (Grande Cobra, Los Hories) who is a close friend and will totally bring the guitar heat”
— Nick Kreisler
