Chris Cudby / Thursday 27th April, 2023 1:58PM

Multiple generations of Ōtautahi rock 'n' roll talent have come together for a sparkling new rendition of The Warratahs' 2006 number 'Keep On', reimagined by no less than Warratahs frontman Barry Saunders with plucky up and comers Adam Hattaway & The Haunters. We'll have to wait until 19th May to experience their take on the rousing original (listen below), but we can spread the word immediately there'll be a live shindig celebrating the new release for Pōneke punters to enjoy next month at Vogelmorn Bowling Club. Shining the spotlight back on 'Keep On' with Dick Picton in the producer's chair — "a little lost 17 years ago when The Warratahs released arguably one of their best songs" — do not miss this very event on 20th May, we advise securing your spot fast...

"Drinking in the afternoon, dreaming in the morning.
Knowing all those dirty demons could wake up without warning.
All you gotta do is Keep On."

Here's the original tittle track for The Warratahs' 2006 album Keep On...

Press release:

Barry Saunders this time backed up by Adam Hattaway and the Haunters have released a new version of The Warratahs' song 'Keep On', out May 19th.

A little lost 17 years ago when The Warratahs released arguably one of their best songs. Produced by Dick Picton, Its Mythic Folk qualities are brought back to life by the band with Barry and Adam's vocals way up front.

Like all great songs that reflect the times, some kind of social upheaval, the all encompassing struggles of the modern era, this classic Barry banger doesn’t necessarily fit into any time frame but could grab you by the heels and sweep the rug out before lulling you back into your false sense of security whether it was 1967 or 2025.

It’s covered in dust and grime and has no idea where it’s tumbling away to, but nothing else you hear this year will quite have the homespun rambling magic of this track.
