Raising a glass to Aotearoa's thriving electronic dance underground, Canterbury's The Big Fresh Collective have unveiled the bumper latest edition in their award-winning annual compilation series. FOOTMAHI 2023 bundles together 21 new tracks by producers from all across the motu and beyond, including deepState, Caru (who contributes two tunes including a collab with Andwahn), The Forbin Project, Young Gho$t, Hasji, DJ Gran Turismo and many more — all putting their own spin on the inclusive home-brewed concept of 'Footmahi' (read the official tale of Footmahi's origins below). A true labour of love, you can join The Big Fresh Collective celebrating FOOTMAHI 2023 at Ōtautahi’s FLUX this coming Friday 12th May — featuring party-igniting sets by deepState, Young Gho$t, team leader Liam K. Swiggs and INFORDIN B2B BARNS. Get tickets while you can and peep your eyeballs on the imprint's first ever winter wear collection HERE...

"The phrase “FOOTMAHI” was first brought to light by BFC founding member MUSHMANE of Tainui.

The story goes that the BFC were huddled up drinking a communal slab of 8% Cody’s on a bitterly cold Ōtautahi winters afternoon watching a young in-form Shaun Johnson absolutely tear the Sydney Roosters defence to shreds with his electric “footwork” — when Mushmane screamed out “LOOK AT THE FOOTMAHI” changing the course of BFC history forever all in the birthplace of The Big Fresh Collective; The Parage on 40A Richill Street, Belfast, Ōtautahi.

The Journey of Footmahi has taken us all over AOTEAROA working with & entertaining people from all walks of life that we are proud to call our Whānau."
