Chris Cudby / Tuesday 11th July, 2023 9:45AM

Making an auspicious debut with her 2022 long player Between Bodies, Ōtautahi's Hannah Everingham has a bunch of fresh tunes her back pocket and a three date tour on the horizon. Having recently shared the stage with such fellow songwriting luminaries as Tiny Ruins, Lawrence Arabia, Robert Scott and Francisca Griffin, and shoulder-tapped as special guest for Erny Belle's forthcoming Lyttelton visit, Everingham will be celebrating her new single 'Mercury' with solo performances in Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Whanganui-a-Tara — playing the latter event with Pickle Darling — then wrapping up with a full band performance at her hometown's Space Academy. Co-produced by Everingham and Thomas Isbister, 'Mercury' heralds the imminent arrival of Everingham's sophomore album Siempre Tiene Flores and impending move abroad. Press release:

Hannah Everingham tours New Zealand in celebration of the release of her new single Mercury, her first national headlining tour since the release of her standout debut album, Between Bodies.

Recorded in Ōtautahi, New Zealand, alongside collaborator Thomas Isbister, Everingham describes Between Bodies as an 8-track offering of love and separation, an exploration of the distance between earth and sky and the place that we inhabit together, between bodies.

Shining with her tenderness, the album quickly garnered the country’s attention, labelled a “truly wonderful, stunning debut” by Flying Nun Records, “feeling beamed out of a timeless sonic realm” by UTR, and described by Tony Stamp of RNZ as an album that “evokes some of our finest local folk musicians, and is absolutely worthy of inclusion alongside them”. The release soon saw Hannah performing alongside NZ legends Rob Scott & Francisca Griffin, and opening across the country solo & with her band for the likes of Tiny Ruins, Taite-prize winner Lawrence Arabia, Recitals, Terrible Sons & this July for Erny Belle.

Join Hannah across 3 special performances this August & September as she shares the new single ‘Mercury’, just 9 months since the release of her knock-out debut album. Co-produced by Everingham & Thomas Isbister, Mercury also features Doug Brush on percussion & Mike Kime on double bass. Sharing the first track of many off her impending sophomore album Siempre Tiene Flores before she heads overseas to make music, the following shows truly are not to be missed…
