Blazing it up on a cosmic level, Summer Thieves follow the grooving swagger of last week's new single 'Slow Down' with the announcement of two release parties celebrating the Aotearoa collective's forthcoming third studio album Cigarettes In Space, launching in full on 18th August via Loop Recordings. The quick-fire sequel to their 2021 long player Paradise Down The Road (and star-packed remix collection), the festival favourites are marking the launch of Cigarettes In Space at Pōneke's Meow with rapper Will McLean and an all-ages extravaganza at Tāmaki Makaurau's The Powerstation, joined by high flyers PARK RD and The Dawns. With their new album set for release, Summer Thieves have announced two special headline shows in September, playing Meow in Wellington on Saturday September 9 and an all-ages show at the legendary Powerstation in Auckland on Friday September 15.
To celebrate the release of their new album, Summer Thieves will bring their energetic live show to Auckland and Wellington this September for two special shows.
Supporting Summer Thieves in Wellington is Will Mclean. The Wellington-based hip-hop artist will be bringing tracks from his new album DON’T FORGET TO BREATHEwith him for this show at Meow.
Summer Thieves are looking forward to bringing their new album CIGARETTES IN SPACE to life in these two special shows. Featuring the latest single, ‘Slow Down’, which features a singalong hook and an infectious melody which they’ve become known for, the new album shows the maturation in Summer Thieves’ sound.
CIGARETTES IN SPACE is Summer Thieves’ third full-length album and is out August 18 (available for pre-order now). After 12 months that has seen the band sell out tours across NZ, play some of the country’s biggest festivals, and return to Australia, the album showcases a band at the top of their game. Embracing rock, alternative and pop sounds, the album sees the band pushing their sounds further than before, while staying true to what has brought them this far.
