100 gecs Auckland DJ Set Announced

Chris Cudby / Tuesday 18th July, 2023 8:44AM

US electronic iconoclasts Laura Les and Dylan Brady aka 100 gecs have announced a must-attend sequel of sorts to their forthcoming Tāmaki Makaurau headline date at The Powerstation, playing an exclusive DJ set the next night downtown at Everybody's with special guests galore. The wizard cloak / music note-loving pair that introduced the term "piss baby" to our daily lexicon, 100 gecs arrive on our shores next week following the recent unveiling of their second official album 10,000 gecs, maintaining their winning streak from 2019's breakout debut 1,000 gecs. They'll be generating major dancefloor heat alongside local DJs Left Hand Loz B2B Blush.MP3, Eva Lucian B2B monoga.my, Daddy Day Care x Thunda Boy, Arthiest and 4xLife — we recommend moving at light speed to secure your spot, brought to you by Snackpack...

Press release:

100 gecs, the duo Laura Les and Dylan Brady, planted their flag on the proverbial pop culture moon with the release of the 2019 debut album 1,000 gecs. The innovative album captivated online fan forums and music literati alike with The New York Times calling it, some of the savviest pop music of the year, and Rolling Stone dubbing it one of 2019's most exciting debuts. The years that followed saw the St. Louis natives go from unlikely SoundCloud cult heroes to show-stopping wizard-cloaked pied pipers, covering magazines and selling out concerts across the globe. With the arrival of their long awaited sophomore album, 10,000 gecs, in March 2023, 100 gecs appear yet again to be two steps ahead of the curve on the ever-molting pop music landscape. Vulture praised the intangible and ineffable sound of the album calling it high concept pop and fittingly Pitchfork called it a perfect outro album for the end of the world while dubbing it 'Best New Music' in their review. Equipped with stadium-sized anthems like Dumbest Girl Alive and Hollywood Baby the 10x sized album is road-ready as the band ventures out on their 10,000 gecs world tour this spring.
