Swallow The Rat Announce 'South Locust' Album Release Tour + Share Single / Video 'Terra Nullius'
In what feels like a doomed world where our descendents may end up having to ingest rodents or they may in fact end up ingesting us, Tāmaki post-punks Swallow The Rat are set to release their second long player South Locust on 1st September via US label Shifting Sounds. Recorded with Nick Abbott (Foals, Die! Die! Die!), mixed by Sonny Diperri and mastered by Carl Saff (Sonic Youth), the album's apocalyptic title was prompted by a spine-chilling street sign spotted in North Texas.
Today's announcement includes an upcoming launch tour traversing the North Island and Melbourne plus new single exploring the repercussions of white privilege 'Terra Nullius' — "meaning land belonging to no-one... the legal concept used by the British government to justify the settlement of Australia". Directed by Shane Warbrooke, the two-part accompanying clip shows a mysterious, telepathic brain befriending a weary man for a cosmic takeover, with silent film subtitles and zappy animation. Scamper towards a record store to pre-order your copy of a limited edition solid white 12 inch vinyl of South Locust before the great plagues return...
