Chris Cudby / Wednesday 26th July, 2023 11:00AM

Everyone's favourite spot to hang and share a soda (on '90s television and until very recently on Karangahape Road), Peach Pit is the indie-pop friendship circle of Vancouver-based guitar slingers Neil Smith, Chris Vanderkooy, Peter Wilton, and Mikey Pascuzzi. Achieving instant fame from 2016's self-titled debut single (which has racked up over 100 million streams) onwards, Peach Pit have announced their first ever Aotearoa headline event, following the recent launch of their third long player From 2 to 3, playing at Tāmaki Makaurau's The Powerstation on 18th October. Their on-stage synergy honed to supernatural levels by an epic 53 date album release tour, Peach Pit recently sold out London’s Troxy and will soon grace Chicago’s Lollapalooza. Go catch them them while they're hot this spring, brought to you by Frontier Touring...

Press release:

Frontier Touring are excited to announce winsome Canadian indie outfit Peach Pit will make their debut trip to Australia & New Zealand in October 2023, performing four special headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland.

If friendship had a sound, it would be Peach Pit. The Vancouver-based band – Neil Smith (vocals, guitar), Chris Vanderkooy (guitar), Peter Wilton (bass), and Mikey Pascuzzi (drums) – trace their union back to high school. Currently in the midst of a North American tour run, which included a slot at Tennessee’s Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival last month, the Vancouver four-piece have a jam-packed year of recording and touring in 2023, including a set at Chicago’s Lollapalooza in August. Having recently sold-out their biggest ever headline show at London’s Troxy, Peach Pit are quickly gaining notoriety for their affable sound and charming songwriting, cementing themselves as a must-see live band.

The band debuted back in 2016 via their self-titled single ‘Peach Pit’ which quickly catapulted them to notoriety, the track gaining over 100 million streams. Fans quickly fell in love with the band member’s strong connection with one another, a trait which shone through clearly in their music. With relatable lyrics and sounds that emulate a warm hug, Peach Pit continued to gain traction. 2017 full-length debut Being So Normal saw lead singles ‘Tommy’s Party’ and ‘Alrighty Aphrodite’ surpass 50 million Spotify streams each, Peach Pit gracing bills of festivals such as Shaky Knees Festival, Bonnaroo, Firefly Festival and more.

In 2020, Peach Pit released You and Your Friends, a project which DIY Mag hailed as “12 tracks of infectious indie-pop gems”, while Atwood Magazine described the band as being “at the cutting edge of the alternative music scene.” Entering 2022 on a high they released their latest release From 2 to 3, an album depicting another chapter of the band and their friendship.

Off the back of their latest album Peach Pit kicked off their mammoth 53-date tour in 2022, selling out shows across the US as well as debut sold-out performances in Europe. Now they’ll visit Australia and New Zealand for the first time for this headline shows, while also taking the stage at Yours & Owls Festival in Wollongong, NSW.

Gaining global attention faster than ever, don’t miss Peach Pit’s biggest year yet as they take to the stage across Australia and Zealand for the first time this October!
