Jujulipps Drops Single / Video 'Airplane Mode'

"This is your captain speaking: As soon as you embark, please hit play on Jujulipps’ new single ‘Airplane Mode’ so you can listen to your heart’s content for the duration of our flight." Through Bigpop Records, the Tāmaki-based South African rapper (Hannah Kazadi) today releases an antsy anthem and video — holding her hands up to camera against hustle culture and modern, endless availability. The song was produced by Abraham Kunin, mixed by Nick Krill and co-written by Jujulipps in collaboration with poet Takunda Muzondiwa and rapper Tom Scott. Featuring jazzmaster Thabani Gapara on saxophone and virtuoso Joost Langeveld on bass, the latter pair stir some heavy hip action that surges upwards with static electricity.

Directed by Ezra Simons (Earth Tongue, Soft Bait) and made with the support from NZ On Air, the split-focus visuals for 'Airplane Mode' and attitude of its dancers carve their own path with its carefree revelry, paying homage to South African musical and film Sarafina (1992). A courageous extension of Jujulipps' Amapiano style and Burundi / Congo roots in the churning of English and Swahili lyrics, such exciting growth lends us a glimpse into her upcoming Get That Shot EP . Hit play on the rising star's third official single below...

“It’s a hold-my-bag moment. A hold-my-worries-while-I-go-and-dance-like-there's-no-tomorrow-for-the-next-2:26-minutes moment.”

'Airplane Mode' is out today on major streaming services via Bigpop Records.
