Swallow The Rat Share New Album 'South Locust'
The guitar-mangling trio of Brian Purington, Hayden Fritchley and Stephen Horsley, Tāmaki Makaurau post-punks Swallow The Rat today uncage their third studio studio album South Locust via UK imprint Shifting Sounds. Sparked by an ominous street sign spotted while journeying through North Texas, the group's new ten track opus fuses their love for distorted string squalls and pounding motorik percussion with lyrical meditations on such specifically close to home political themes as "the legacy of colonialism, neoliberalism and the internet, as well as broken friendships, and things torn apart as if by a locust cloud".
Featuring guest vocals from Hayley Smith of Dead Little Penny (on 'Mind', 'Small Plates' and 'Redactor's Dilemma'), Thom Burton of Guardian Singles ('Straight Roads') and LG Galleon of Brooklyn's dead leaf echo ('Gravois Park'), the limited edition white vinyl LP edition of South Locust is already nearly sold out. Move fast to nab a copy HERE and go catch Swallow The Rat letting rip with friends galore all across Te Ika-a-Māui this month, making a mighty return following headline dates in Naarm / Melbourne...
