Essentially the debut solo record from a pivotal figure in Aotearoa's post-punk noisy underground, John Halvorsen (The Gordons, Bailterspace) has unveiled the first long player from his new project Vorsen. Lyrics are kept spare yet highly evocative, often alluding to post-apocalyptic states that feel discomfortingly present. Halvorsen takes stock of humanity's post-digital slide away from grace on 'MEMES FOR BRAINS', surveys environmental infernos on the title track and unleashes uplifting sonic rays on 'FASTER THAN LIGHT' — while the ominous line "it's a whole new world for the new generation" resonates on both opener 'TERRAFORMER' and the haunting 'A WHOLE NEW WORLD'.
