Listen To MACEY's Debut Album 'The Lovers'
MACEY kicks off a record release show tonight, after slotting in the final Disc 2 puzzle piece of his debut record The Lovers. The new project of Tāmaki Makaurau's Harry Parsons, he'll be showcasing the eleven songs that span from lyrically soul-baring tunes to atmospheric hip-shakers—which offer hope amongst the fear that follows our lives. Personal standouts include the sonic embers of Disc 1's ‘Before The Moment’s Gone’ and breezy wash of ‘The River’.
MACEY recently dropped a music video for Disc 2's ‘Doesn’t Really Matter’ featuring BEXY. About his perspective on romance from his parents’ longstanding relationship, the upbeat percussion and swelling melody of the song contrasts the hard hitting sentiment that relationships cannot be planned—in a way that frees us from the boxes we place our lives in. MACEY recently lit the stage at this year’s Going Global Showcase in Auckland and Live Nation’s Ones To Watch. He even leant his vocals on Chilean-Kiwi pop artist AMILA’s Life Changes EP. Don't miss him romancing the crowd at his record release shebang at Auckland’s Big Fan with special guest Rita Mae tonight, and at Christchurch's Dux Central with Kei on 7th October. You can grab a vinyl LP copy of the album alongside a ticket for tonight's show below…
"The album is a window into my experience of love and loss, in chronological order from my first big break up of 6 years and the death of my father and all the trials, highs and lows that came after. It’s basically an autobiography of growth and trying to figure things out”.
