A smashing summer lineup of kiwi mega-talents has been announced for The Beach Ball, rolling into Kerikeri, Ōakura and Coromandel in late December and early January. Featuring all-star double bills each evening, Kerikeri's The Old Packhouse will host the roots / reggae / rock soundclash of The Black Seeds and Racing, the almighty pairing of Sir Dave Dobbyn and The Beths will grace the stage at Ōakura's Butlers Reef for New Year's Eve, and Sir Dave Dobbyn will be joined by Aotearoa pop-punk royalty Elemeno P at Coromandel's Coroglen Tavern.

This outburst of activity from Sir Dave Dobbyn follows his brand new hit reprisal of 'Slice of Heaven' with Coterie, while The Beths (whose fans famously include Barack Obama) just picked up the Rolling Stone Global Award, following extensive overseas touring of their latest album Expert In A Dying Field. Note the lineup details for each event below and be sure to swoop on tickets when they go live to the public next week — brought to you by Banished Music...

Banished Music are slip-slop-slapping with excitement to announce that the supreme summer series The Beach Ball is back, and bigger than ever! That’s right, sun’s out fun’s out, with shows around the motu headlined by none other than Sir Dave Dobbyn, accompanied by The Beths in Oakura and Elemeno P in Coromandel, and a special one-off Beach Ball headlined by The Black Seeds with support from Racing in Kerikeri!

Friday December 29th, our favourite Northland destination Kerikeri plays host to a Beach Ball for the first time, with the summer ready sounds of The Black Seeds set to soundtrack the end of your year in their inimitable reggae-inspired style. Pōneke’s finest will play the big tunes plucked from over two decades of their iconic releases.

Joining the bill with their truly unique melding of airtight rock’n’roll and space-age disco grooves is Racing. Rock radio phenom, the band are well oiled from a year of massive shows, and are all set to help you see 2023 in epic style at The Old Packhouse.

Next up, returning to the ultimate New Years Eve spot of Ōakura’s Butlers Reef, it’s the phenomenal one-two punch of Kiwi songwriting legend Sir Dave Dobbyn, and a homecoming welcome of mammoth proportions for indie darlings The Beths, ensuring The Beach Ball is the only place to be for your NYE moment.
