Speech Act Theory Share Self-Titled Debut EP + Video 'Harder For Yourself'

The electronica project helmed by Pete Hickman, Aotearoa's Speech Act Theory has accumulated into today’s stellar release of their self-titled debut EP. Hand-in-hand is a fresh video directed by Nikita Roteker for opening track ‘Harder for Yourself’, with visuals that perfectly capture the hazy meshing of sampled live acoustic instruments and electronic hardware. Today’s five-track bundle gives us a burst of trip hop which feels expertly crafted, eliciting visceral reactions from its familiar acoustic instrumentation while delving further with soul-infused electronica textures.

Hickman is hot off of performing with the likes of Birdparty and Machine Learning in the North Island motu, with a homeground EP tour show launching next month at Tāmaki Makaurau's Big Fan. He’ll be joined by a live band, with support from Scalper and Ferdishenko DJ. This act has long been on my radar to experience live, as this particular language of music is one I could never forget.
