Listen To Dick Move's New Album 'Wet'

Perfectly timed to launch one week ahead of Aotearoa's 2023 general election, Tāmaki Makaurau punks Dick Move's rawkus second studio record Wet is an urgent call to take action. The title track is named after a sodden ongoing rental situation — "written while lying in bed listening to water drip through the roof into strategically placed pots and pans" — an unacceptable and enragingly familiar situation (I experienced the same in my old Grafton flat) visualised by director Stella Reid in the dramatic accompanying clip, made with support from NZ On Air.

Busting out 13 songs in just over 22 minutes, the riotous fury of Lucy Suttor, Lucy Macrae, Hariet Ellis, Justin Rendell and Luke Boyes feels necessarily raw on every single track, embracing even noisier textures on the group's second studio long player — tracked and mixed Peter Ruddell (Sulfate, Wax Chattels) at The Beths Studio, and mastered by James Goldsmith (Beastwars, DARTZ). Including such instantly fist-pumping, singalong anthems as 'Women, Take The Streets', 'I Am Enough' 'Minimum Living', 'Eyes For Christmas' and 'Feel Better', Wet hits the personal / political bullseye every time. Famously explosive live, don't miss Dick Move rarking it up on their nationwide album release tour from tonight, then again with legendary Australian pub-punks Cosmic Psychos this November (read their excellent chat together HERE)...
