Listen To The Spectre Collective's New Album 'Neuro Death'
Launched late last week just as the entire planet seemed to be going down the plughole, Neuro Death is the first new album in three years from Te Whanganui-a-Tara's abundantly talented The Spectre Collective. Helmed by Will Agnew (Mothers Dearest), Lochie Noble (Mirror Ritual) and Jonathan Shirley (Soft Plastics, Goya), with saxophonist Rachel Andie on closing track 'Strobophobia', The Spectre Collective's pre-Halloween long player delves down darkly imaginative, synthetic dungeon-scapes of a cosmic scale to rival Heavy Metal artist Philippe Druillet (or perhaps Voivod illustrator Away).
Packaged in a vibe-setting, ruby-red limited cassette edition (handmade by Julie Dunn at trace / untrace), Neuro Death ripples with cyber-psych / post-industrial metallic menace. The group embrace apocalyptic doom on the thrashy 'Iron Lung', sprawl across barren Ghosts of Mars-like terrain on 'Amalantrah Working', unleash T-800 robotic riff fury on 'Dreadnaut', and lumber through the brutally amoral voids of 'Concrete Culture'. Refreshing in both visionary ambition and sunglasses-at-night execution, be sure to nab a copy of Neuro Death when The Spectre Collective play with super city kosmische voyagers Half Hexagon and Creeps tune spinner Boss Dude at Moon on 4th November...
