Watch Erny Belle's Video For New Single 'Pitt Stop'
Tāmaki Makaurau’s fully-equipped songstress Erny Belle aka Aimee Renata (Ngāpuhi) channels a '60s pop vibe in her third single ‘Pitt Stop’ from upcoming album Not Your Cupid — out November 10th via Flying Nun Records (preorder it HERE). The sounds of The Dixie Cups, The Marvelettes and The Shirelles bring out Belle’s nostalgia for her rural upbringing and her Nana Venus’ home. Belle revealed on 95bFM Breakfast this morning 'Pitt Stop is “an ode to all these 60s pop girl groups…about waiting on a lover or a message”. In a vivid technicolour-like video co-directed by the singer and Matt Hunter, and made with support from NZ On Air, Belle kills time like a housewife as she awaits the arrival of a letter. Chinks of bright “Elvis era” guitar form the groove of this piece, where its crafting was finished at Roundhead Studios.
Erny Belle will commence an album release tour in Pōneke’s Polish Association and Tāmaki’s The Wintergarden from the end of next month, just a couple weeks following Not Your Cupid’s release. Pray to our "paper boy" Eros that you don’t miss any gig pit stops from this exceptional songwriter…
'Not Your Cupid' launches on Friday 10th November via Flying Nun Records — vinyl LP and compact disc orders available HERE.
