WOMAD NZ 2024 New Acts Announced - Gilberto Gil, Morcheeba, WITCH, Ibibio Sound Machine + More

WOMAD NZ 2024 have officially opened up the floodgates of special guests gracing the stages at Ngāmotu / New Plymouth's Brooklands Park and the TSB Bowl of Brooklands this coming March, revealing last night eighteen new additions to an already sterling lineup. International artists announced today include Brazilian tropicália revolutionary Gilberto Gil, UK trip-hop groove collective Morcheeba, Zamrock legends WITCH, UK electronic afro-funk stars Ibibio Sound Machine, Bosnian dub rockers Dubioza Kolektiv, South Korean pansori (traditional narrative singing) pop crew Leenalchi (이날치), Mexican cumbia-punk trailblazers Son Rompe Pera, sarod virtuoso Tejendra Majumdar with the "new king of Indian violin" Ambi Subramaniam, Vanuatu "treehouse troubadour" Tio, and even more.

Aotearoa acts joining the bill include 2022 Taite Music Prize winner (and ace lighting technician) Anthonie Tonnon, 2023 Best Independent Debut Award winner TE KAAHU, Afro Pasifika DJ Lady Shaka (now based in London), and Tūī award-winning RnB artist Bailey Wiley.
