Listen To Macho Macho's 'Blink & You'll Miss It' EP

Te Whanganui-a-Tara’s “confused pop” quartet Macho Macho emerged from recording in a Mt. Victoria garage to release their four-track debut Blink & You’ll Miss It EP late last week. Now, they will be ripping into their stage-ready goodie bags full of their playing chops for North Island gigs this weekend. It took a whole team effort to write and create this project, which was produced by Toby Lloyd (Revulva, Hollie Smith) and Robin Schmidt (Goodnight My Darling). The band, who met during their Commercial Music degree at Massey University, brings triple the amount of vocals and double the grease from guitars spearheaded by Logan McAllister, Lachlan Burne and Connor Lyttle, plus drums from Dayne Robinson.

From tomorrow, Macho Macho will be dipping into their road-tested repertoire, which includes the roaring guitar and drum kit burner ‘Blue Peopl’ and epic six-string conversations of ‘North Canterbury in the Winter’. But what best captures the experience of watching this group play live are the gat riffs and sonic energy of ‘Junior Munch (La La La)’. They’ll be spooking it up tomorrow night alongside fellow Pōneke acts Sleeping Village and Maiden Name for a Halloween shocker at San Fran, right before launching their official EP release party with Oscar Dowling (formerly of New Gum Sarn) and indie rockers Mull Brain at Tāmaki Makaurau's Whammy Backroom.
