Georgia Lines Shares Single / Video 'Romeo'

Going from strength to strength, 2022 AMA Breakthrough Artist of the Year award winner Georgia Lines follows her number one NZ Album Chart hitting Human EP with new synth-pop anthem ‘Romeo', as she embarks on her first ever US tour. Out today with a literally sizzling lyric video made by Riley Clough to help you sing along, the Tauranga-based artist's earworm was co-written with Joseph Faris, who also produced the track — lyrically yearning for dreamlike romantic fantasies, set against the humdrum confines and complexities of real life relationships.

Indefatigable host of the INTROS interview web series on top of all her other achievements, Georgia Lines' inaugural US jaunt this week and next will treat audiences in Washington, Wayne, Boston, New York, and Los Angeles to body-moving live sets honed by extensive touring and high profile supports in Aotearoa. She talked about how 'Romeo' represents the conclusion of her "pop chapter" (including singles ‘Nothing But Love’ and ‘Monopoly’) and teased the release of her forthcoming debut album...

“‘Romeo’ is about the reality of the tensions you can sometimes feel in a relationship and wanting the ease of the “Romeo” fantasy. The track follows on from the pop era I have been in over the last little while. Following on from ‘Nothing But Love’ and ‘Monopoly’, ‘Romeo’ closes the pop chapter before launching into my debut album.

‘Romeo’ went through so many changes, so many versions, so many different versions of the choruses. At one stage we almost threw the baby out with the bathwater and deleted the entire chorus for a whole day. When we had a break and gained some sonic perspective/fresh ears, we realised “wait”; we’ve literally deleted everything that made the song so great!”
