PollyHill x Samara Alofa Unveil Debut Album 'AQUARIES'

Tāmaki Makaurau’s power duo of PollyHill (Paloma Schneideman) and Samara Alofa finally share their debut collaborative album AQUARIES — eight aliencore tracks of electronic trip hop, alt RnB, jungle and psychedelic flavours expressing their shared love for the “wonderful and weird”. Out in the wild today are five new songs that follow the excellent releases of ‘Void’, ‘Alien Sex’ and ‘QUEERBAIT’. There’s additions like the intoxicating final single ‘HOME’ and tenderness of ‘Pain’, plus the ticking ‘Acid Rain’. Floating just outside the realms of heteronormative Earth, the queer multidisciplinary artists (and flatmates) created the album with the concept of a “domesticated alien” in mind — of one who struggles to assimilate because that’s simply not who they are. Taking the production reins for the project, Schneideman and Alofa (primarily handling vocal duties) synergise into the musical stratosphere, where “sonic rebellion, cosmic healing, and queer joy” reach. 

Samara Alofa also recently shared ‘CEASEFIRE’ as part of TAUTOKO GAZA, a new Aotearoa compilation fundraiser for Medical Aid For Palestinians. Alofa and PollyHill will be performing tunes from AQUARIES together at Tāmaki Makaurau’s Whammy Bar, with their friends Geneva AM, AJHoneysuckle, DJSNAKELEGS, Zeki and HALFQUEEN on 25th November.
