Listen To Hollow Coves' New Album 'Nothing To Lose'

Samantha Cheong / Friday 1st March, 2024 1:01PM

It’s been five years since Australian indie folk stars Hollow Coves made their mark with their hugely successful debut album Moments. Today, Ryan Henderson and Matt Carin share Nothing To Lose with the world, building upon the themes of their freshman offering to pay more weight and attention to moments of the everyday. The Gold Coast Music Award winners worked with Matt Corby on production to create eleven new tracks, which focus on changing personal outlooks and the meaning of gratitude. There’s no doubt that the memories of surf trips on the Gold Coast at sunrise and the stretch of American national parks played an integral part in the emotions of the songs. They are unafraid of spearheading falsettos, and their long player offers harmonies which are a force for healing. ‘Photographs’ perhaps captures the essence of the record, where reverting back to analogue technology such as photos offers a more direct and special way to remember the past.

Hollow Coves will be stepping onto the magnificence of Tāmaki Makaurau's Hollywood Cinema in October to celebrate their release. Hopefully their visit will involve checking out some of our own beaches and parks — consider taking some film photos when you get to the gig?
