Reiki Ruawai aches for the slower beach life of his Raglan hometown with fresh single ‘All I Need’. Written at APRA New Zealand’s Songhubs with Jordan Rakei, Alistair Ross and Francesca Emily Chesney Colwill, the soulful vocal layering and synths are further visualised in an accompanying video filmed by Luke Penny, made with support from NZ On Air. Also lead singer of band Mayasa, Ruawai’s candid spirit is captured by a cruisy one-take shot filmed during a Riverhead sunset. The originally pop-oriented tune tested the waters with a pūtātara (conch shell) to emulate the more “tribal feel” that Joel Jones helped produce.
Ruawai will be playing two single release shows, drawing on his long-standing experience touring internationally with his parents’ band Cornerstone Roots since age 10.
