Press release:

James K

Take a sip of water before your memory error blinks.

Dial to K.

Listen to the disfragmented territory
and the cast of it she’s making.

It might not be what you will have thought tomorrow.

Related Articles and Phys Ed join in communion to present experimental pop visionary James K in her Antipodean debut at our Pitt Street Methodist Church, Sunday 21 April.

A version of James K was born. Comprised of bones, reactive metals and a larynx with freckled eyes that catalyzes that mix. When she chews gum, it's not clear which one of her personas does it. Since their first release in 2013, describing them separately is grunt work as they switch places, cosplay each other and would most likely lull you into a lonesome dream. Together, they know how to produce, sound, film and edit. Thus, they are brought to the table, performing and DJing in clubs and theaters, alongside composers and musicians alike.

describing their persona’s separately is grunt work as they switch places, cosplay each other and would most likely lull you into a lonesome dream. James K produces music that makes temporary haven for indomitable lyrics, always in flux. Come April 21st we capture a brief glimpse of this cathartic expulsion in practice.

Musically, K has been a resident on NTS, with her show, ‘Trip Lick,’ since 2019, and she has provided mixes for magazines such as Crack and Fact, and is a past resident of Issue Project Room, NY. She has collaborated with artists such as Yves Tumor (‘Licking an Orchid’), Hoodie, Beta Librae, Drew McDowall, crimeboys, LEYA, Parris, and slayed her band SETH twice. She produces music that makes temporary haven for indomitable lyrics – and these are in constant flux. It's only a part of her fairly detailed world. A world that she abandons and then builds upon.

To weave the basket in which this performance will lie, we welcome the endless talents of Waiwhai, Wear Pounamu, Wet Star & Sequentia, aiding you in relieving yourself of the endless crashing waves of the outside world.

Sometimes you can’t hear the words……since anything beyond everything she wants to give you a hint
it’s not pretty

(but it’s pretty).
