Listen To Big Sur's Single 'Lands' - 95bFM Fancy New Band
Spotlighting the crème de la crème of Tāmaki Makaurau's emerging musical talent, 95bFM's Fancy New Band makes a mighty return this coming Friday for a koha entry soirée at The Tuning Fork. One such act is alt-folk collective Big Sur, who've followed up last October's smouldering single 'The Jury' with the rollicking vistas of new standalone tune 'Lands'. Injecting a dash of Morricone-esque drama into their panoramic palette of guitar / banjo / double bass / drums and group vocals, Big Sur outlined their vision in conversation with 95bFM Breakfast's Rachel Ashby, stating 'Lands' was inspired by investigations into singer / guitarist Niamh Pritchard's ancestry and Celtic mythology — "an ode to... the mythology of Tír na nÓg, Land Of Eternal Youth in Gaelic, where my name comes from and is about a warrior princess." Listen to their conversation in full HERE and get your NZ Music Month / Te Marama Puoro o Aotearoa on a roll with Big Sur, playing alongside GroopChat, Blunt Dog, BUZZ and Shooless...
