Grace Petrie (UK) Returning to New Zealand in October

Samantha Cheong / Thursday 2nd May, 2024 11:20AM

Brimming with renewed compassion, energy and guitar-slinging skills, English folk singer Grace Petrie will be revisiting Aotearoa for a release tour for her new studio album Build Something Better shared in March. Petrie last visited three of our major cities in 2023, but is now adding Ōtepoti Dunedin to the mix. Raised in Leicester, the activist has been compared to her comrade Billy Bragg as a “millennial” version of him, and is also an award-winning co-presenter of The Guilty Feminist Podcast. With critically acclaimed albums such as Heart First Aid Kit and Queer As Folk, Petrie’s social commentary and music has amassed a global following of devoted fans. Don’t miss the outspoken folkster on tour in October, and stay tuned for news on supporting acts…

Press Release:

Grace Petrie returns to Aotearoa to promote her new album 'Build Something Better' It’s two years since CONNECTIVITY (2021) smashed into the top 40 and debuted at #1 in the UK download chart, propelling the fiercely independent voice of GRACE PETRIE from critics’ choice to the main stages of major festivals across Britain, Australia and Canada. Now the songwriter is back - stronger, older and a whole lot angrier than ever before. As rightwing ideologues trade in suspicion and cynicism, tearing communities apart against a backdrop of crumbling public services, the ordinary folk of Britain continue to suffer the consequences of corruption and individualism. From within this maelstrom of despair comes BUILD SOMETHING BETTER - the new, uncontainable album from Grace Petrie.
