Life changes have spurred on bouts of writing in country / soul artist Tess Liautaud. Currently hitching her boots on the east side of Ōtautahi and in the middle of a nationwide tour,  the Franco-American songwriter unveils new single 'Here Go The Lovers' and announces her sophomore album Blue Mind. From ‘Gold Digger’ to apple picker, Liautaud calls upon the heat and lyricism of US rockers like Jackson Browne and Springsteen: “Forgetting is long when you’re a dreamer.” Her rich lower register has its own gravitational pull, supported by the presence of a full band — a sonic expansion we can expect in the rest of Blue Mind and on tour. In the accompanying music video directed by Robyn Jordaan and Caleb MacDonald, we see the singer reflecting upon a relationship in the setting of an apple orchard and on location at Altiora: Arts Centre. When Liautaud’s attachment to a particular "station" or lover fades, we switch cameras and perspectives in the climax, passing on the picked apples to the community.

This track is my favourite I have heard from Liautaud so far. Tonight, she’ll be providing a bushel of country sentiments at the Ophir Peace Memorial Hall in Alexandra, as she continues her tour with band mates Adam Hattaway, Frankie Daly, Elmore Jones and Michael Kime. Look out for Blue Mind launching in full on 18th October, but for now, catch Tess Liautaud on tour and in stereo...

''It's almost like there's something inevitable you expected but there's something dramatic and cinematic about it.”
