Memory Foam Unleash Single / Video 'Pink Tides'
A fresh shockwave of sci-fi punk, Memory Foam today unleash their single / video for 'Pink Tides' from the Tāmaki Makaurau group's upcoming sophomore record. Recorded by Martin Phillips (REPAIRS) and Ciara Bernstein (Half/Time) at The Vault, with visuals filmed, directed and edited by Jardene Johnstone-Smith, the group charge electric currents with their uplifting punk rock. Yuko Miyoshi’s vocals read like a leader in the "people’s movement" she sings about, which is about chasing instead for what one deserves and more. Samuel Moore’s warping gat sonics work in tandem with the synths sorcery of Samantha Webb. Compared to the AI-assisted imagery in their video for ‘Moon Power’ last year, the green-screen antics of 'Pink Tides' is just as captivating and never too serious. Check out the world-flipping visuals of a pink liquid flooding a paper-made street of miniature houses in the clip below. And in just over a week, Memory Foam are playing an all-ages gig in Grey Lynn Library Hall — I hope there’s some pink lemonade available…
