Mammalien Unleash Single / Video 'I'm Tired'
Led by multi-instrumental workaholic maestro Joshua Worthington-Church of Exploding Rainbow Orchestra and Princess Chelsea's Dream Warriors band, Mammalien dare to declare 'I'm Tired', in the Tāmaki Makaurau freak-folk project's first official release since 2018. Questing for respite from workaday hassles yet radiating wired energy (a relatable mix), the ensemble of Worthington-Church, Kat Tomacruz, Lukas Fritsch, Wil Goodinson and David Harris deftly swirl together hyper-caffeinated guitar pyrotechnics, interstellar synth blurps and majestic, bleary-eyed grooves — singing "I'm tired / But I can't sleep anymore at all," and lyrically alluding to some kind of Red Dwarf / Hitchhiker's Guide space hulk scenario.
Directed by Chelsea Nikkel (aka Princess Chelsea), produced by Mean Bitch Productions, and filmed by Tosca Christie, Phoebe Driver, Georgia Parker, and Kermath Davies, the accompanying clip stars the Mammalien collective enjoying an overstimulating sensory experience together at Time Out, inside Central Auckland's post-apocalyptic IMAX complex. Co-produced with Bob Frisbee, you can congratulate Mammalien on their triumphant new tune this Saturday at 605 Morningside, with special guests The Protection — capacity is very limited so don't snooze...
