The Melancholy Babes Announce New Jazz From The Big City Tour
Aotearoa's unstoppable force in exploratory avant-jazz for over two decades, The Melancholy Babes are embarking together on a late winter jaunt around the upper middle of Te Ika-a-Māui. The sonically synergistic super-trio of saxophonist Jeff Henderson, double bass player Tom Callwood and drummer Anthony Donaldson promise no less than to bring New Jazz from the Big City to Rotorua, Tauranga, Kirikiriroa, Tairāwhiti / Gisborne, and Tāmaki Makaurau's Creative Jazz Club from 28th August onwards.
Releasing their eighth album of improvisational excursions Lovebite around this time last year, as part of Kiwijahzz's crucial Jazz from the Underground Nightclubs of Aotearoa series, open-eared aficionados can start salivating about the prospect of a new long player from The Melancholy Babes named Knockout Time! via that imprint in the near future. Go catch them live at the dates below...
