Video Nasty and The Dud Uglys South Island Tour Announced
We're undergoing a bit of a transitional time in Aotearoa music right now — iconic venues morphing into new spaces or bowing out, revered SRN breakfast hosts moving onwards, plus the inevitable overseas brain drain is back churning through local band lineups. Ōtepoti's "dumbest band in NZ punk" The Dud Uglys have announced they too are pulling the plug, bowing out in style with a four show tour of Te Waipounamu alongside Tāmaki Makaurau shoegaze / grunge dynamos Video Nasty. The latter combo hint at big changes in their camp too, cryptically stating these shows represent "possibly the last tour (nz) for us as well as we have some... well, things planned..." Best head along and give both groups congratulatory high fives when you aren't being massacred in the pit — most gigs are all-ages too, here's the details...
"This will be The Dud Uglys last tour before they hang up their dozens of Grammys and call it a day! Come see them while you can!"

Press release:
Auckland shoegaze Video Nasty & Dunedin punks The Dud Uglys tour the south this august.
Video Nasty started off as a grunge band in 2020 but have recently started experimenting with a more shoegaze/pop influence with plenty of reverb, melodies, & even more noise. Nasty have been touring New Zealand on and off the past couple of years and toured Australia in March 2024.
The Dud Uglys are a 3 piece punk band from Dunedin. They have been called the dumbest band in nz punk, switching from pop punk to hardcore and power violence throughout their set. Despite them being called dumb they are actually one of the best and most influential bands of all time! With the doors, the who, the Rolling Stones and even The Beatles saying that The Dud Uglys we're a core influence.
