Listen To Eli Superflyy's Debut Album 'Motor'

Following a ripper run of lead singles, Te Whanganui-a-Tara songwriting dynamo Eli Superflyy finally shares his debut album Motor, setting the scene for a release tour around the motu starting on Saturday. Eli Superflyy chatted with 95bFM Breakfast's Rachel Ashby (now retired from the role after five years duty, on much-deserved holiday in Europe) last month, opening up about how the album was recorded in 2022, his home-crafted songwriting process (both solo and with band) and the feelings that come along with setting these songs free — revealing the title track embodies "time and the lack of it".

Eli Superflyy demonstrates a consistent knack for arresting hooks and emotionally forthright lyrical reflections across his nine track record, feeling assured yet refreshingly unpolished, with assistance from production wizard Steven Marr and band — traversing peppy fuzz-pop, crunchy post-punk grunt, shoegazey squall, and brooding balladry. Sadly third tune on the record 'Car Crash' turned out to be quite prophetic, as the 2004 Renault Scenic that was to be given away as a prize giveaway was thoroughly smashed into by a Metlink bus while parked up (see HERE)!
