Louisa Nicklin Shares Single / Video 'Can't See' + Announces Tour Supports
In keeping with the time-defying visuals of ‘Thick’, Louisa Nicklin returns with new single and video 'Can’t See', from the Tāmaki songwriter's upcoming album The Big Sulk. Nicklin channels the glamorous spirit of Dolly Parton's classic '60s and '70s appearances on The Porter Wagoner Show, performing with minimal backdrops and stylised outfits in the accompanying video directed by Ali Burns, made with the support of NZ On Air.
Host Zoë Larsen Cumming (Babe Martin) introduces Nicklin with bassist Eamon Edmundson-Wells, drummer David Harris and guitarist Jasmine Balmer (the latter two also members of Princess Chelsea’s band), all wearing beautiful bolo ties and garments from Vixen Vintage Boutique. Produced by Shayne P. Carter, the new ballad showcases Nicklin’s expert vocal control and picking hand. Beneath the textures and deadpan dazzle, when most noticeably all else draws away, is birdsong-like ambience created by synthesiser and guitar pedal.
Louisa Nicklin has also revealed the excellent local special guests joining her album release tour. Head along to to catch any or all of Team Scary, T.G. Shand, Death And The Maiden, Linen, Groopchat and Green Grove from 6th September onwards, brought to you by 100% Good. For now folks, bring your hands together for 'Can’t See' below, but maybe wear your sunnies for the shiny dresses onstage…
