Mousey Announces Album Release Tour + Unveils Single / Video 'Home Alone'
Sauntering into twilight realms of cinematic trip-hop / industrial pop on recent double single 'Dog Park / Opener', Mousey aka Sarena Close has declared it's nearly time to unleash her third album The Dreams of Our Mothers' Mothers, out in full on 18th October. Recorded in close collaboration with Will McGillivray (Goodwill), the new studio long player is a natural sequel to her 2022 sophomore album My Friends' themes of love and companionship — finding the Ōtautahi songwriter considering "her feelings of self doubt around her adolescent / family life, and the contrast of seeing her upbringing through a new lens as she becomes a mother herself".
It's certainly a fine day to be a Mousey fan, as she's also unveiled new single 'Home Alone', a gorgeously minimal accompanying video directed by Robyn Jordaan and announced a triple date release tour — travelling with band and special guest Goodwill to Tāmaki Makaurau, Pōneke and her garden city hometown's Darkroom. 'Home Alone' feels like one of Mousey's most ambitious works to date, an intimate yet oceanic ballad pondering the unbearable weight of family expectation and solitude, amplified further by the artist's poetic choreographed movements and stunning costuming / styling courtesy of Estelle Schuler. Made with support from NZ On Air, experience the domestic majesty of 'Home Alone', preorder The Dreams of Our Mothers' Mothers vinyl LP (on white & black marbled or traditional black) HERE, and don't miss Mousey with friends this spring...
"As a songwriter, I write about my own experiences, especially the painful ones. This album is no exception. The Dreams of Our Mothers' Mothers! The title of the album is my own spin on an excerpt from German psychotherapist Bert Hellinger who has written and worked a lot with family systems and has theories on how our breaking of destructive / abusive generational patterns relieves the spirits of our ancestors".

Press release:
Join Mousey in celebrating the release of her album The Dreams of Our Mothers' Mothers! Playing shows in Christchurch, Wellington & Auckland, Mousey will be bringing her full band, playing songs from the new album, plus favourites from her past records too.
“The Dreams of Our Mothers' Mothers!” is the 3rd album from Silver Scroll nominated artist Mousey. In it, she dives deep into her feelings of self doubt around her adolescent/family life, and the contrast of seeing her upbringing through a new lens as she becomes a mother herself. It’s also a new step sonically for Mousey as she embraces the grittiness and vulnerability of the subject matter.
From the intimacy and pain of Sufjan Stevens’ most emotive moments to the grandeur and beautiful drama of Mitski, the darker moods of Portishead’s starker work to to the swagger and passion of Perfume Genius, the influences here are many and varied.
Ōtautahi songwriter/producer Goodwill appearing as special guest for all shows.
