Listen To Teenage Dads' New Album 'MAJORDOMO' - Touring NZ In September
Probably not named after the obscure X-Men character, MAJORDOMO is the brand new sophomore album from Naarm / Melbourne's Teenage Dads, who arrive in Aotearoa next weekend for a triple date tour. Winners of the 2023 Breakthrough Artist Of The Year ARIA Award, the prodigious four-piece crafted the long-awaited sequel to their 2018 debut over two years in the studio with Chris Collins. Picking up the new wave thread of their 2021's eight song Club Echo EP, Teenage Dads wholeheartedly embrace dance-punk angularity and Strokes-y melodic hook-power on their latest record, repping a crisp 'n' crunchy rhythmic approach primed to move bodies.
Established hits 'Speedracer', 'Tale of a Man' and 'I Like It' are present alongside a generosity of offerings that suggest more of a skinny tie-wearing direction than your everyday wave-loving Aussie combo — even busting out the vocoder on terse pulsing synth-punk number 'The Commander', and is that a microKorg I hear in 'Live Until You Die'? Out now via Chugg Music, hit play on MAJORDOMO and start your spring with Teenage Dads in Pōneke, Tāmaki Makaurau and Ōtautahi...
"A Majordomo is a person whose job is to make arrangements or take charge for another: someone who runs the enterprise. We wanted to take that word and explore themes of control: how sometimes you might be the majordomo seizing the day, and others you are falling from the sky in a box, unable to do anything".
