Special guest stars of our new Tāmaki Makaurau-based LIVE MUSIC BAR series, it's time for the rest of the world to fall in love with the dream-pop songcraft of Aotearoa dazzlers Phoebe Rings. The four-piece of Crystal Choi, Ben Locke (Sea Views), Simeon Kavanagh-Vincent (Lucky Boy, Dream Warriors) and Alex Freer (A.C. Freazy, Tiny Ruins) have spilled the beans their 2021 self-titled Phoebe Rings EP will be relaunched via US tastemakers Carpark Records to a global listenership on 18th October — whose roster also includes local heavyweights The Beths, Hans Pucket and Signer. Naturally enough, Phoebe Rings are toasting their debut 12" vinyl release with a triple date tour, taking them to Ōtautahi, Te Whanganui-a-Tara and their hometown's Neck Of The Woods in mid-November, a springtime quest hinting at even more exciting adventures to come.
Teased by Freer as one of the most significant songs about daisies since Ween, Phoebe Rings today share a vibrant video for new single 'Daisy', a swoony bonus track for their reissued self-titled EP. Co-directed by and starring Choi, Kavanagh-Vincent and Freer, take a day trip with the trio as they investigate the colourful foliage, feathery fauna and sparkling isthmus waters of Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland, made with support from NZ On Air.
