Nathan Haines Announces Auckland Headline Show
A figure at the forefront of infusing club grooves with jazz sophistication (and vice versa) on 1995's groundbreaking debut Shift Left and beyond, Nathan Haines unveiled his first new long player in a decade Notes last month via Loop Recordings. Stepping into the future with a fresh generation of collaborative voices, the body-moving double album features contributions with Eo, La Coco, Ruby., Rachel Clarke, Arjuna Oakes and fellow trailblazer Mark de Clive-Lowe. Haines celebrated the launch of Notes with a sold-out performance at The Jazz Club London, and has just announced a hometown release extravaganza at Tāmaki Makaurau's The Powerstation on 2nd November, featuring full 10-piece band.
Nathan Haines' award-winning oeuvre encompasses eleven studio albums so far, including 2003's breakout Squire For Hire, notably featuring Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) on their superb cover of Steely Dan's 'FM'. Recorded following Haines' return to Aotearoa from London and recovery from throat cancer, join Haines and friends in toasting the new era of Notes at this special one-off event, "playing tracks from the new album, and his acclaimed catalogue". Open your ears to Notes, order the album on limited double vinyl LP / CD HERE and secure your spot on the dance floor...

Press release:
Fresh off a sell-out London performance, Nathan Haines returns to Auckland for one special show celebrating the release of his new album, Notes. Nathan will perform a hometown show at the iconic Powerstation in November, playing tracks from the new album, and his acclaimed catalogue.
This show will be the first Auckland performance from Nathan Haines in over five years with a full band. With a 10-piece band, Haines will bring his new album to life, alongside the tracks that have made him a true legend in the NZ music scene.
Notes is Haines’ eleventh studio album, and his first solo album since 2014. It comes after a time period that has seen transformative change in Haines’ personal & professional life, including moving back to NZ, becoming a father, and setting up his own recording studio. Throughout this time, he was also diagnosed and has recovered from throat cancer, a hugely difficult time for a person who has made his career using his throat. Given the personal circumstances surrounding the album, Notes truly feels like a celebration of life and features a collection of tracks that are as rhythmically infectious as they are emotionally profound.
After selling out the iconic Jazz Cafe in London, don’t miss the triumphant return of Nathan Haines to Auckland’s Powerstation this November. New album Notes available now and in stores on limited edition double LP vinyl & CD.
