Brant Bjork Trio Touring Aotearoa New Zealand In September

Chris Cudby / Tuesday 13th May, 2025 9:24AM

Absolute icon of Californian fuzz-drenched stoner rock and desert-fried doom, Brant Bjork is bringing the full force of his Brant Bjork Trio to Aotearoa for a nationwide tour this September. Key member of legendary twin pillars of desert rock, Kyuss (who he co-founded and named) and Fu Manchu, Bjork last visited our shores in 2022 with Stöner, his project with fellow traveller Nick Oliveri. Recently inviting our own Earth Tongue to join them on their '24 European Tour, Bjork and his bandmates Michael Amster (Nebula, Mondo Generator) and Mario Lalli (Yawning Man) have headline dates locked in for Pōneke, Ōtautahi and Tāmaki Makaurau.

Contributor to multiple volumes of Josh Homme's Desert Sessions series (including the first two) Bjork's relentlessly creative solo career runs deep, with more than seventeen long players to his credit since 1999. Do not miss these 21st Century riff lords in action this spring, touring their debut album Once Upon A Time In The Desert...

Press release:

Brant Bjork has spent over a quarter of a century at the heart of California’s desert rock scene. From cutting his teeth as the drummer and songwriter for Kyuss’s legendary early albums to carrying the torch for fuzz-driven rock with Fu Manchu from 1994 to 2001, Bjork’s impact is undeniable. Over the past two decades, he has produced albums for other artists, launched numerous side projects, built an extensive solo career as a singer, guitarist, and bandleader, and founded his own record label. His story is one of relentless, boundary-pushing creativity.

In 2024, Bjork re-formed the Brant Bjork Trio, teaming up with Michael Amster (Nebula, Mondo Generator) on drums and longtime friend—and desert rock pioneer—Mario Lalli on bass.

In 2025, the trio heads to New Zealand for three exclusive shows celebrating their latest album, Once Upon a Time in the Desert. This is a rare chance to catch a true icon of desert rock live—an experience not to be missed.

Joining them on all three dates are Australian rockers Full Tone Generator. Born on the beaches of Australia by Andy Fernando and brought to life in the Californian desert, Full Tone Generator brings the heat with a powerful blend of riff-heavy rock and raw energy.
