Listen to Erase Everything's Debut Single 'Glass Souls'
Ripping it up and starting again, Erase Everything are a brand new super-collective featuring veterans of Pluto, Bleeders, Shitripper, Fever Lake and Crap Date, throwing down the gauntlet with debut noise-rock / post-punk ripper 'Glass Souls' via Sunreturn. The song's untamed sonics and empathetic lyrics herald an entire EP from the team of Angelo Munro, Milan Borich, Matthew Berry, Grant Sowerby and Jon Ropiha, Tāmaki Makaurau punters can experience an advance taste firsthand at their single release party with friends galore on 19th July. While wild and raucous, Munro explained the 'Erase Everything' is a serious reflection on bullying culture and youth suicide, which arose from his and Borich's concerns as parents...
"This song came from a place of grief and love. Glass Souls is about a teenager who took his life after relentless bullying (both online and at school), both of our kids were friends with the victim. It reminded us of ourselves at that age: sensitive, creative, slightly outside the lines. And when someone like that disappears, especially so young, it leaves a hole that feels impossible to fill.
Writing this wasn’t easy. It wasn’t about trying to explain it, because you can’t, but about trying to honour what was left behind: the fragility, the innocence, the rage, the silence. Kids can look fine on the outside, but they’re breaking inside. And the world, especially the online world, doesn’t give them the space or softness they need.
Glass Souls was a way for us to process something unthinkable, and to start a conversation about empathy."
