Pitch Black Playing Big Fan Auckland Fundraiser

More than simply a venue space for an array of regular local live gigs (a major contribution to our community in itself), Big Fan in Tāmaki Makaurau's Morningside is a hub of all-ages musical activity — boasting a world class recording studio, and hosting artist residencies (on-site and abroad), the IGNITE industry training programme for rangatahi, and more. An innovative, ever-evolving force in Aotearoa electronic music from the mid-nineties onwards, Pitch Black aka Mike Hodgson and Paddy Free will be making the most of Big Fan's resources with a special combined live show / recording event on 24th September, with all funds raised going back to furthering the space's inclusive cause (you can also donate direct HERE). Masters on stage and in the studio, this is a rare opportunity to witness Pitch Black lifting the veil on their creative process...

"As anyone who has seen the duo play live knows, their tracks are constantly evolving and mutating, and with time some compositions have merged with others to create almost entirely new tunes.

Pitch Black reckon it’s high time they recorded some more of their live set, some new noodles, and these frankentracks (as they like to call them), so are taking over Big Fan Studios and would love you to come along and be involved.

It won't be a standard live show in that they might stop mid-track and start again - heck, they might even play the same track twice! They’ll be doing some extended jamming of new works-in-progress, and will also be filming from as many angles as possible.

Big Fan is run by a charitable trust that works to build a community that connects people through music and fosters talent, empowering musicians, songwriters, and those working behind the scenes at every level.

Pitch Black really like this mission, so have decided that all money raised from ticket sales will go to furthering Big Fan's cause."
