Officially an indie band based in Ōtepoti / Dunedin, Purple Dog are stretching their legs with a concluding run of debut Dog Years EP release gigs this week, tackling Tāmaki Makaurau's Big Fan tonight and their hometown's Pearl Diver this Friday. Bright and snappy from the opening strums of 'Always and Forever' to the whiplash punky riffs of 'Cricket Enthusiast', the five-piece successfully bring together wistful lyrical refections recalling The Sundays or dare I say Goldenhorse, ducking 'n' diving power-pop punch and a magic bag full of hooks.
